ROUND DANCING FUN AT THE NATIONALS

You are invited! Please join us to enjoy the Round Dance Program at the 70th National Square Dance Convention® at Jackson, Mississippi. We have a wonderful program planned for you with dancing at all levels. One of our dance halls will be perfect for your personal preferred level of dancing!

Each morning will start with a Round Dance Showcase from 10:00 – 11:30 am. The Showcase is an exciting program of performances of all the dances that will be taught that day. Each day will offer a selection of more than a dozen dances from which you can choose. Whether you choose one or as many as you can fit into that day, the Showcase is a show you do not want to miss! Since spectators often come just to enjoy the show, you may want to come early to reserve your seat.

After a delicious lunch at one of the convenient eating facilities onsite, you will have the chance to learn standard figures from expert round dance teachers at one-hour clinics from 12;00 to 1:00 pm. You will find a level of instruction matched to you in one of the three round dance halls. One ballroom is dedicated for Phase 2 and Phase 3 instruction. Another specializes in teaching figures for Phases 3 and 4. The third ballroom’s clinics will introduce figures at the Phase 5 and Phase 6 level. On Thursday (T), Friday (F), and Saturday (S), each hall will feature a different clinic. The Phase 2/3 hall will introduce three rhythms: “Intro to Bolero” (T), “Jump into Jive” (F), and “Intro to Cha” (S). The Phase 3/4 Hall clinics will focus on improving figures and introducing West Coast Swing: “The Little Things Make It Easier” (T), “Meet Jive’s Cousin, West Coast Swing” (F), and “Getting to Know West Coast Swing” (S). The Phase 5/6 hall’s clinics will include “Sweeping into Phase 5 Waltz” (T), “Easing into Phase 5 Rumba” (F), and “Dancing With Feathers” (S).

Teaches of the new dances performed that morning will follow the clinics. In the Phase 2/3 Hall you can learn up to six easy level dances each day. The Phase 3/4 Hall will include five intermediate level dances each day, and the Phase 5/6 Hall will feature two advanced level dances each day. You can choose one or two or up to six dances in a single day, each taught by an experienced national-level teacher. What an exciting opportunity to learn from the best!

A new feature this year is the addition of a Request Rounds dance after the teaches. This is your chance to request and dance all your favorites!

After a great meal at the onsite facilities, the evening dancing will offer a choice of two dance halls, one at the Phase 2/3/4 level and another at the Phase 4/5/6 level. Each night’s program has been carefully planned for your dancing pleasure. You will find familiar dances you love to dance, as well as the new ones that you just learned and want to practice.

Again, we invite you to join the Round Dancing fun at the Nationals!

Let the dancing begin!
